Upcoming Meetings for 2008: We have nights where we break up into smaller groups and discuss our own topics, share advice and, of course, socialize, as well as meetings where we host a guest speaker, giving expert advice and information specificially targeted to our group. August 5 Styles for Fall & Trends from Yesterday (presented by Sarah Dusseau--Fashion Consultant) Sarah will help guide us into fall with some assistance on personal guidelines that relate to current trends. When Sarah is finished with her presentation, we will be playing a Jeopardy-type game as a group called "Trends from Yesterday.” Contact Becky Thompson with any questions. August 19 The New Math--Catching up with Your Kids & Building Skills at Home The math flashcards, formula memorization, and “drill and kill” style of teaching are vanishing…so what do you do when your child needs help? Join fellow member and educator, Rachel Reid, as she walks you through what a typical elementary math lesson now looks like. We will look at familiar family games, ways of learning math, and fun websites for kids. This is an interactive night and meant to show you how fun math can be. You will walk away with ideas, resources, and hopefully a better understanding of the changes taking place in our school system. Contact Carla McNello with any questions. September 2 Frugal Moms Would you like to tighten your budget? Come to our Frugal Moms meeting and share cost saving ideas. Share and learn new tips on how to save on groceries, decorating, gifts, and many other things. Besides ideas from members, we will also share websites and grocery store information (you know, looking for the cheapest milk!). No scissors required! Contact Carla McNello with any questions. September 16 Updating Your Resume When was the last time you thought about your marketable skills? Even if you are not currently in a job search, it's important to keep your resume up to date! You just never know when that perfect opportunity will knock at your door! Join us, as fellow member, Michelle Kionka leads us in a discussion about the do's and don'ts of writing a good resume and learn how to put your accomplishments on paper.
